The 2nd house deals with what is yours: what you earn through your own work, what you accumulate, what you won't lend. But the underlying subject isn't money, it's value. It's where a person decides, often without realizing it, how much they think they are worth.

A planet in the 2nd house shows how a person earns, spends and feels materially secure, and how they measure their own worth. Jupiter here tends to spend generously and trust that more will come; Saturn here learns to save out of fear before learning to do it by choice.

Mine and ours. The 2nd house is the resource you control; the 8th, what depends on another person: partnership, inheritance, debt, intimate surrender. Someone who only inhabits the 2nd shields themselves; someone who only inhabits the 8th lives on other people's resources. The balance is to have a base of your own and still know how to share.
